| As one of the most important social norms of the human society,fairness is essential for individual subsistence and social stability.Previous studies have shown that humans have a tendency of inequity aversion.When being treated unfairly,people will generate discontent and resentment,and punish the fairness violator even sacrificing their own economic interests.But it is not clear that whether the unfair perception will reduce individual general trust behavior.Through two studies,this research examines whether the perception of unfairness would damage the individual general trust.Based on the perspective of victim,Study 1 is made up of three experiments which refer to the distributive fairness,procedural fairness and interactive fairness respectively.Using the ultimatum game and trust game,this study explores how the unfairness perception following the unfair treatment affects the general trust.While study 2,from observer’s perspective,through three experiments,examines how the unfairness perception that results from watching unfair behaviors affects the general trust.The main conclusions are as follows:(1)Form both the perspective of victim and observer,the unfair perception of distribution will weaken the trust to unrelated others(strangers).In addition,there is not a mediate effect of negative emotion between unfairness perception and general trust.(2)Form both the perspective of victim and observer,the unfair perception of procedure and interaction may not reduce general trust.The exploration on trust damage and repair after unfairness perception has important theoretical significance in revealing the generation,development and maintenance of trust.In addition,it also provides scientific theory reference for government and enterprises to set relevant policies and raising the level of social trust in citizens. |
