The development of Hongkong horror film is very prosperous in the 1980 s and 1990 s.Compared with the horror film in the before,the Hongkong horror film presents a variety of obvious features in the narrative,and shows the subtype of different styles.In addition,different types of horror films demonstrate different cultural spirit and cultural identity.The early 80 s of last century,influenced by the wind of Hongkong new wave of reform and innovation,the Hongkong horror film began to learn from and use foreign culture for innovation and breakthrough on its own,which forms the "new wave" horror film that is different from the traditional horror film.By setting the closed and depressed environment in the film,the director renders the bloody and violent pictures,portrays universal characters,and uses the close-up,in order to make the "new wave" horror art style at that time to show "the world".In the middle of 1980 s,the psychological demand of the construction of Hong Kong Cultural Identity gradually increased,and the Hongkong horror film began to strengthen the sense of their own local,which forms the comedy phantom film that is different from the "new wave" horror genre.The film director,respectively use the metaphorical expressions and direct description to show the character of Hongkong in the environment of story.It depicts the character which has multicultural characteristics of Hongkong,and forms the art style of Hongkong native.What’s more,the spirit of science fiction comedy reflects the distinctive character of "Hongkong".In the late of 1980 s,affected by the "97 doomsday",the director of Hongkong horror film began to construct the classical ghost film,which has the Chinese traditional tache.In order to close with the China distance inland,comfort Hongkong people increasingly fear of psychological regression.In the film,the director integrates many Chinese traditional elements,which telling the traditional mysterious story,shaping the sad ghost image,and creating the sad treacherous ghosts atmosphere.It creates the classical soundtrack,which makes the horror film to present a strong "China" feature.
