The "healthy realism" films of Taiwan in the 1960 s and 1970 s were a special type of film that was well considered both politically and at the box office.In the history of Taiwanese film,"healthy realism" films have had a heavy influential status.In addition to its outstanding characteristics of political publicity,"healthy realism" films have also had incredible achievements at the box office,in cultivating talent and the revitalization of "national films".The female image portrayed in the Taiwanese "healthy realism" films have profound significance and influence.In this paper,based on the image of women in the “healthy realism” films of Taiwan,we will review such films as The Oyster Girl and twenty of Taiwan's "healthy realism" films.The female image in the films will be the central focus of this research object,we will use the narrative to interpret the "realism" of the female characters in these movies.At the same time,we will analyze the audio-visual language and image aesthetics of the female images in the "healthy realism" films based on the methodology of feminism and psychoanalysis.In order to further and effectively analyze from the perspective of audio-visual language and image aesthetics,the we will include and discusses six types of female images in the research.The main innovation of this thesis,is to make up for the academic neglect of the research on female image construction in Taiwan's "healthy realism" films,by researchers from mainland China and Taiwan.The following main points are put forward: First,in order to satisfy the ideological appeal of the Taiwanese government,the "healthy realism" films in Taiwan sometimes sacrifices "realism" for "healthy".Therefore,the image of women has certain limitations in the films.This limitation is reflected in the six female images of Taiwan's "healthy realism" films presented in this research.We then interpret the image aesthetics produced in the process of constructing the female image,from the perspective of the narrative mode and audio-visual language.The social status and standard of living of the Taiwanese women in Taiwan in the 1960 s and early 1980 s are going to be analyzed academically for the purpose of this research.Secondly,Taiwan's "healthy realism" films have improved in various aspects,such as its aesthetics and technology,and this is compared with the previous era of Taiwanese“local language” films and “gang realism” films.We further summarize the Taiwanese female image in the wake of the New Movie Movement in the 1980's in Taiwan.Focusing on the female image construction method of the "healthy realism" period,and the abandonment thereof after the New Movie Movement in the 1980's.Taiwan's "healthy realism" films have always had an impactful position in the history of the Taiwanese film.Third: The Taiwanese government respects the standards and regulations of the current film market,so Taiwan's female image in "healthy realism" films have formed the course of the current Taiwanese film industry,to a certain extent based on variation.To summarize,the image of women in Taiwan's "healthy realism" films has had a very important and profound influence on the development of Taiwanese films.
