On The Orality And Literacy In Consecutive Interpreting

The pair of orality and literacy is of evident importance in interpreting practice and research.How to strike a balance between orality and literacy would be a challenging task for interpreters at the beginner’s level.Based on the analysis on an interpreting task,this practice report aims at exploring how to convey meaning of the original speech,which is of great literacy,to the audience in a more understandable manner,which requires the efforts to enhance orality.Meanwhile,the author is expected to strive for the demonstration of literacy of the original speech to a reasonable extent.This report reviews the overall process of the interpreting,including the background and task description,preparation,on-the-spot interpreting and reflection.It aims at further exploring how to process the information to realize the balance between orality and literacy with the analysis of texts,attempting to offer some solutions to similar cases during interpreting practice.
