Jewelry Design Based On Infusion Of Chinese Gongbi Painting Imagery Into Art Nouveau Style

Due to the instable economic situation lasing about ten years and to the changes in modern society’s psychology the jewelry also has changed.Now it is not the marker of the wealth and power of the owner but one of the ways to gladden the heart of the consumer herself.The requirements on the jewelry differ from those of the previous centuries.The middle class appreciate usability if not above the design but at least at almost the same rate.The problem of the modern jewelry market is that there are fine jewelry with sky-high prices on the one side and cheap,dull costume jewelry on the other.Regarding this situation the goal of this work was stated as creating design of six jewelry sets taking into account the needs for usability and aesthetics expressed by the middle class consumers.It should be the design of so-called “affordable luxury” with its individuality and rather high quality in materials and techniques.As for the design inspiration,it was decided to create a fuse of European Art Nouveau style,which had lots of similarities with modern world,and Chinese gongbi painting aesthetic ideas.Such fuse could be well understood by both European and Chinese consumers.
