The Study Of Movie Art On "Writer Director" Cao Baoping

The theory of writer director advocates discovering individuals,publicizing personalities,elevating the creators to make their consciousness,freedom and creativity fully expressed in movies.Especially the elevation of movies’ creators will make their unique characteristics strongly shown in movies,which opens a new face for international movie development.Cao Baoping,the professor of Movie Literature Department in Beijing Film Academy,has got involved into lots of movie directing and creating while being engaged in teaching.As one of the few outstanding movie directors with higher art pursuit and self-expression ability,his movies bear much the imprint of writer.Guided by the theory of writer movie,taking Cao Baoping’s personal creation as the starting point,this paper starts its expounding based on Cao Baoping’s such four movies as Glorious Anger,Li Mi’s Guesses,Sun Burning Hearts,and Man Pursuing Murderers,in order to analyze the characteristics and strategies of Cao Baoping’s movies and explore his personal signature in the four movies.The introduction of this paper briefly summarizes the current research situation home and abroad about Cao Baoping’s movies and the significance of this paper.Chapter one,through tracing the source of writer movie theory,the creating process of Cao Baoping’s writer movies and his independent pursuit of movies,lays an important theoretical foundation for the coming study on Cao Baoping’s movies.Chapter two is analyzing and interpreting Cao Baoping’s four movies one by one,to gain the themes and implied meanings of his movies.In this way we can get a deeper understanding of the internal meanings of Cao Baoping’s writer movies.Chapter three,by using the theoretical knowledge of audio-visual language,makes a detailed interpretation about the features of full-length shot,handheld shot,constant movie editing,and sound-image in Cao Baoping ’ s four movies.Meanwhile,combining with Cao Baoping’s movie themes,it also analyzes the display methods for audio-visual language in Cao Baoping’s movies.Chapter four makes an all-round interpretation and analysis on the narrating strategies in Cao Baoping’s movies,including movie structure and narrating characteristics,and in this way it gets the innovation point of the narration forms in Cao Baoping’s movies.By using writer movie theory,and adopting the method of analyzing text,this paper makes a systematic study on Cao Baoping ’ s movie,with the purpose of mastering the characteristics and innovations of Cao Baoping ’ s writer movies.
