A Report On The Simulated Interpretation Of The Opening Ceremony Address At The 10^th Annual Meeting Of Summer Davos Forum By Premier Li Keqiang

This report is based on the simulated interpretation of the opening ceremony address by Premier Li Keqiang at the 10 th annual meeting of Summer Davos Forum.The theory of diplomatic interpretation and the approach of stimulated self-practice interpreting are both well reflected throughout the report.The Davos Forum is one of the most significant forums all over the globe and the Summer Davos Forum is one of its three branches.Since 2007,the Summer Davos Forum has been held in China annually,offering precious opportunities to old friends and new partners to know China’s new development and thus boost cooperation.Meanwhile,it provides a crucial platform for China’s involvement into economic globalization and international competition.Premier Li Keqiang’s address on the opening ceremony of the 10 th annual meeting of Summer Davos Forum makes clear China’s fresh economic situation and directions such as “new economy”,“new forms of business” and “economic transformation and upgrade”.Properly using this speech as self-practice material,interpreters can better understand China’s diplomatic and economic policies.Also,it can be used as a good material for MTI students to practice interpreting.The report consists of five chapters.The opening chapter describes the background and aim of the simulated interpretation task.The second chapter is about the theoretical basis.It sets forth the theory of diplomatic interpretation from which interpreters can gain useful and practical interpretation techniques in this regard.The third chapter is mainly about the three procedures during the simulated interpretation process,including interpreting preparations,interpreting and after-interpreting analysis.The fourth chapter focuses on the specific examples.Guided by the theory of diplomatic interpretation,the author seeks out typical expressions in the material and explores their interpreting strategies.The fifth chapter contains a practical summary.It lists the strengths and weaknesses in the whole simulated interpreting process and ways to optimize the self-practice approach for the purpose of enhancing future interpreting performance.The report adopts a self-practice approach and makes clear all the procedures of the task,forming a full set of training methods which can positively help study interpretation.Meanwhile,it attaches great importance to the guidance of the theory of diplomatic interpretation,which ensures a good integration of theory and practice throughout the report.
