This report is based on the interpreter's actual interpreting practice for the Training Coursesfor Ethiopia ATVET Colleges Deans in 2016.Examples in this report are based on the Chinese-English consecutive interpretation on the opening ceremony,which included a welcoming speech from the deputy director of the International Cooperation Service Center ofChina's Agricultural Ministry(MOA),and a speech from the director of the International Cooperation Department,MOA.This report consists of six chapters.Chapter one is introduction.During the interpreting practice,sometimes the interpreter stopped longer than enough,which interrupted the interpreting.This report analyzes the situations in which the interpreter stopped for too long and explores the method to solvethis problem.Case analysis is the methodology.Chapter two is task description.The task was consecutive interpretation on the opening ceremony on April 18 th,2016.The interpreter was responsible for interpretation from Chinese to English and from English to Chinese.But only the consecutive interpretation from Chinese to English is analyzed in this report.Chapter three is chronicle of the whole process,including pre-interpreting preparation and interpreting performance.The pre-interpreting preparation was divided into two stages,including preparationbefore and after receiving materials from the host.Chapter four is process analysis.It discusses three kinds of examples,when dealing with which the interpreter was more likely to stop longer than enough.Examples are analyzed to figure out the reason which led to the stop in different situations and the way to address this problem.Chapter five is lessons learnt from this case,including strategies to interpret the three kinds of sentences mentioned in Chapter four.Chapter six is conclusion of the whole report.
