The Conversation Significance Of Traditional Mezzotint

A mezzotint–from the Italian mezzo(“half”)and tinta(“tone”)–presents halftones.Specifically,in this type of intaglio is non-relief print,subtle gradations of light and shade,rather than lines,form the image.A mezzotint emerges from darkness into light.In this paper,on the basis of the existing text image data,through to the traditional mezzotint's the historical evolution of statins,language features and the creation of the modern and contemporary Chinese and foreign mezzotint print's works compare research,summarized the contemporary mezzotint in consciousness,subject and methods of transformation,explore the way traditional mezzotint's the relationship with the contemporary society,seek mezzotint's transformation with the possibility of print,to express the traditional mezzotint the active role on contemporary printmaking creation and the significance of reconstructing the traditional mezzotint's value of contemporary culture.This article is divided into four parts,the first part is the review of the historical evolution of the traditional mezzotint and the inheritance and development of the traditional mezzotint's language features and techniques to introduced.The second and third part from the consciousness and the subject to concept the traditional mezzotint's style innovation and diversification,and the traditional mezzotint's language with the conversion value of language in the contemporary printmaking.The fourth part from the method in this paper,the mezzotint and digital as well as the development of science and technology to promote the combination of mezzotint with engraving technology development,the contemporary significance of reconstructing traditional mezzotint.
