This paper belongs to a translation practice report.The original material is from the book A Life in Museums: Managing Your Museum Career co-authored by Gregor Stevens,the vice director of American Museum Professional Development and Wendy Luke,the manager of American Museum Human Resources.The writer undertakes the translation of these four chapters(9—12),the content of these four chapters involves the application process of museum position,jobs introduction in small museums through author's own experience,preparation for interview and attitude toward internship respectively.This language feature of this text is simple and comprehensible.This report consists of four sections.The first section contains the introduction to the translation task,client's translation requirements,the source text,features of the task as well as the significance of this practice.The second section states the translation process,including translation preparation,draft version of the translation process and the proofreading of the translated text.The third section is the case analysis,considering the mistakes in the draft version of translation,analysis is conducted from the aspects of vocabulary,syntax,discourse and style,and functional equivalence theory.It aims to correct the mistakes and to improve and enhance the translation quality by choosing proper translation skills.The last section is the summary of the translation practice,it makes an account of the author's experience and understanding of the applied text and own self-reflection considering attitude,knowledge,ability and proficiency.
