A Study Of The Construction Of Mogao Grottoes In The Sui Dynasty From The Images Of Donors

The images of donors at Mogao Grottoes appeared the first peak in the Sui Dynasty.There has a large number of donors with noticeable changes and various arrangement.Most of them are arranged in profile,there exists three ways of arrangement.A is the center of the cave to support people to the west niche as the center of the opposite.Type A is all patrons are placed in opposite direction with the center of west niche.the center of the cave to support people to the west niche as the center of the opposite.Type B is arranged in clockwise direction from south to north in the seat of center pillar.Type C is the patrons are placed in the center altar or on the walls that are arranged oppositely in the center of a piece of inscription or mural.Different arrangements of donors may mean different combinations of groups.As the main component of grotto construction,the change of donor groups may directly relate to the body,the way and time of grotto construction.Therefore,I attempted to start from the donors in the Sui Dynasty,analyzed the situation and arrangement of donors,combed the combination of donors under different arrangements to explore the construction of Mogao Grottoes at Dunhuang in the Sui Dynasty.
