A Translation Report Of About Translation(Chapter Ⅵ & Ⅶ)

This translation project is based on About Translation of Peter Newmark.Through the discussion of the translationese and translation interference in this book,the author’s understanding of translation has been developed.However,it is a pity that so far the book has not been rendered into Chinese.Therefore,if translation team obtains Peter Newmark’s approval,they will spare no efforts to translate the source text carefully and accurately before marketing.The author hopes it will be of referential value.This translation project is divided into five parts.The first part gives a brief introduction to the importance of translation for exporting Chinese culture and for introducing advanced technology as well as Humanities and Social Sciences.The second part introduces the importance of fully understanding the SL and analyses the function of parallel texts and Translation-aid Tools.The third part introduces the translation theory used in this practice report.The fourth part gives some concrete examples to analyze some kinds of translation strategies,such as amplification,sentence reconstruction and semantic extension.The fifth part makes a summary of the full project,and emphasizes the relationship between the translator’s subjectivity and intercultural communication.
