Logical relation is essentially indispensable in formative text. Therefore,it is necessary for a translator to be cautious in identifying and re-expressing the logical relations in practical translation process. In order to express and translate logical relations the first step is to analyze the logical structure of the original text to identify the explicit and implicit logical relations for achieving the equivalence between the original and target text.In this thesis parts from The Wetlands Resources in China: Volume of Shanxi Province is translated from Chinese in English, and the analysis is made in the classification of the logical relations spatial relations for summarizing the proper translation strategies. The thesis focuses on the translation of the logical relations and spatial relations. The logical relations covered in the analysis mainly include the cause-effect relationship, comparison and coordinative relation. The spatial relations mainly cover the translation of the words of locality. In the translation of the logical relations, the author suggests the proper expressions and summarize the strategies during the translation process. In the spatial relations the emphasis is on the symmetry and asymmetry of nouns of locality between Chinese and English language. The symmetry is the case where both languages contain the same expression of locality;and the asymmetry is on the differences in the expression of location. The discussion attempts to summarize the proper expressions of logical relations and nouns of locality in the Chinese-English translation in order to achieve the equivalence between the target and the original text. The translation techniques include the addition, sequential method and division methods,as well as their combinations illustrated in examples. It turns out that the employed analytical methods are useful and applicable to similar sentences for satisfactory result. It suggests that the analysis of logicalrelations and spatial relations is potentially useful in translation practice.
