The Study Of Homophonic Phenomenon In Chinese

Homophony is a phenomenon widely existed in every language, which forms by using the same or similar pronunciation,but it's remarkable and outstanding in Chinese.From the literature collection which enjoyed alone by the high level intellectual to the folk culture which created by the laboring people, and to the colorful network language,homophonic phenomenon involves all aspects of real life. In order to make a comprehensive analysis on homophonic phenomenon in Chinese, we will look for a large number of linguistic datas, guided by the theory of knowledge, for instance folklorists, science of Chinese characters, rhetoric, and communication theoretical knowledge.This thesis consists of five parts. In the first part, we will summarize the review of literature,analyze the definition of the homophony and explore the research purpose and meaning. In the second part, we will classify the homophonic phenomenon combined with the two point of view of synchronic and diachronic. In the third part, we will analyze the relations between science of Chinese characters and Chinese homophony, the theory of language potential and Chinese homophony, the cognitive metaphor and Chinese homophony. In the forth part, through the selective analysis of homophonic phenomenon in the environment, we will compare the difference between the internet homophonic phenomenon and the traditional Chinese homophonic phenomenon. And the final part is the conclusion.
