Research On The Thessalian Alliance Of Ancient Greek

Dorian invaded Greece in 1208 B.C.,Greece went into the "dark ages".Later in the ancient times,the Greek world formed a series of city-states.After the 7th century BC,some of the city-states of Thessalian areas in the Greek peninsula wanted to preserve their own interests,so that formed alliance.Until 371 B.C.the tyrant Jason of Pherea who that dominated the Thessalian alliance,under the leadership and his rules the Thessalian alliance development reached a peak,become one of the Greek world strong city-state alliances.But in 344 B.C.it was conquered by Macedon,and in 144 B.C.was conquered by Roma,become a part of the Macedonian provinces.Although it existed independently time is not long,but it plays a important role in the ancient Greek world.Research the Thessalian alliance can contribute to know about ancient Greek city-state alliance of political,military and diplomatic relations,operation mechanism,combing the history of the ancient Greek development has an important significance.In this paper,in reference to Chinese and foreign scholars on the basis of research achievements,the Thessalian alliance were systematically studied.This article mainly from the early Thessalian alliance formed in 700 B.C.and in 371 B.C.controlled by Jason these two periods of Thessaly to discusses the emergence and development of the alliance;from the geopolitical relations,ethnic relations,religious identity,the security of the state and establish hegemony ambitions these causes;from the alliance leader,the alliance disintegrated the meeting,the military system of Thessaly and the daily management of the alliance organizations;alliance military and religious activities and the process of the alliance's disintegration and internal conflicts and enemy invasion,these aspects to explore the Thessalian alliance,and analyses the Thessalian alliance of the polygon.Throughout the development process of the Thessalian alliance,we can find its formation,development and collapse are allied with the internal and external environmental changes of the intimate relationship.As the change of international environment,the alliance is changing.In this paper,based on the research of the Thessalian alliance,can be formed system understanding about the Thessalian alliance,also for the world of the ancient Greek city-state alliance form a more comprehensive understanding.
