A Study Of Meteorological Idioms From Cognitive Perspective

This paper takes the idioms containing meteorological words in Chinese as research objects and colllects almost all of the idioms based on the limited scope and describes the cognitive process of semantic metaphors in idioms and the integration process of the whole idioms under its action,and calculates the number of statistics,finally comes to some reliable conclusions.Firstly,in theory,this paper summarizes the previous relevant studies and points out its weakness,and then introduces the theoretical basis-conceptual integration theory the article used and the research methods.On this basis,it points out the significance of this study and the research object and data source.Secondly,according to the characteristics of the collected meteorological words,the paper first classifies the source domain characteristics of meteorological idioms.In order to show the relationship between the various features and the meanings of the metaphors more clearly,we will focus on the target field of meteorological idioms by category,and the semantics of meteorological idioms are statistically analyzed.And then we discuss the semantic cognition mechanism of meteorological idioms based on the psychological space and Conceptual integration theory.According to the different levels of conceptual integration,the integration process of all idioms are divided into two categories:single conceptual integration of metaphor or metonymy and multiple conceptual integrations.We explain the process about how people understand these words through the process of conceptual integration,and describe and analyze different semantic integration of the polysemy.Thirdly,the paper statistically analyzes the data of the activated areas of the meteorological words in the conceptual integration process through the cognitive analysis of the semantic construction mechanism of meteorological idioms,and we can have a much more clear understanding of the laws and characteristicsof meteorological idioms.Finally,we'll make a summary for the whole paper,point out the weakness of it and discuss the future research direction.
