Under the guidance of Skopos Theory and its three rules,this paper studies the English-Chinese translation of Chapter I to Chapter XV of Karen's Birthday by Ann M · Martin,hoping to find out skills available for the translation of children's literature.The main body of the paper is consisted of five parts,including introduction of the translation project,translation process,theory basis and its application,case study and summary.The most difficult part of the translation is how to express the childish virginity and innocence of the children in another language.In the process of the translation,the translator analyzed the difficulties met from the perspective of words,syntactic analysis and rhetorical device,and put forward translation skills accordingly such as choice of words,adoption of modal particle,reduplicated words,oral vocabulary and four-character idioms,rearrangement of the information,addition and omission.Finally,the translator pointed out that Skopos Theory and its three rules have a guidance on the translation of children's literature. |
