Translation enhances culture exchange between countries.Children’s literature plays a critical role in the healthy growth of children,significant for shaping their world outlook and outlook on life.At present,children’s literature translation in China has made some achievements,but still cannot meet children’s needs.Translating children’s literature is not as easy as some people imagine.The particularity of target readers is a fact that translators should not ignore.Judging from this,it is basic for translators to possess remarkable language skills and literary accomplishment.This paper is divided into five parts,focusing on the case study of the translation of Fish in a Tree.The first part is task description,which involves background of the task,introduction to the task and significance of the task.The second part is task process,including pre-translation preparation,translation process and post-translation period.The third part introduces Reader-Response Theory.The fourth part is a case study concentrating on language features and strategies.The last part is the conclusion,which includes findings and suggestions.For the purpose of bringing about the same reading experience,the translator applies several strategies in a flexible way.In terms of vocabulary,the translator chooses the most appropriate meaning of words according to the context.In terms of syntax,the translator reorganizes sentences according to the logical structure.Through children’s literature translation,readers have access to exotic literature works.The translator wishes that this practice would evoke a feeling of responsibility in translators,as they would like to gain more knowledge about the significance of literature translation and how to cope with difficulties in the process of translation.
