The ancient village, as the carrier of Chinese local culture, is the symbol of Chinese traditional culture and history. During the new rural construction and urbanization process, the value of the ancient village landscape is neglected and protection is not in place. The destruction of the ecological environment destroyed the cultural inheritance, which is an impediment to the construction of "Beautiful China". Along with China’s land remediation work, comprehensive land remediation work in Hubei Province has entered a new stage. To avoid the irrational planning in the process of land consolidation such as blind development and excessive destruction of the ancient village cultural heritage, it is necessary to study the typical ancient village landscape and to explore the land consolidation mode. This paper studies the ancient village-Nanzhang County. Guided by the theory of landscape ecology, the author establishes a complete set of ancient village evaluation index system in order to measure the value of the ancient village comprehensively and objectively. The ecological landscape type of land consolidation strategies are put forward to provide theoretical and practical basis for the protection of ancient villages so as to realize sustainable development and harmony between man and nature. The main research contents are as follows:(1) Through the investigation of a large number of relevant documents and typical area-Nanzhang County, the author takes the natural geographical environment, social economic conditions, natural resources, land use and landscape of ancient villages into consideration. Landscape characteristics of ancient villages are analyzed according to different types of landscape element. The advantages, weaknesses, opportunities and risk of ancient villages are analyzed and summarized according to SWOT.(2) According to the characteristics of the ancient villages, the evaluation indexes of ancient villages system are set from three aspects (current conditions, development conditions, ecological conditions) based on the analytic hierarchy process, including population, economic status, natural landscape resources, the value of the status quo, traffic location, infrastructure, landscape, ecological remediation and other aspects.(3) An empirical study of the index system is carried out based on the example of Nanzhang. In the second national land use survey of Manyun as the landscape classification map, the comparison with the latest remote sensing image, vector changes on land use area, get the latest land use map and the extraction landscape units required under the support of ArcGIS, and then get the landscape pattern indexes through the calculation of the Fragstats software, a comprehensive evaluation of the study area in combination with other indicators.(4) Land consolidation strategies of different landscape types are put forward based on the status of the ancient village. Sustainable development of the ancient village should be taken as the goal to maintain the balance of ecological environment, to protect the integrity and authenticity of ancient buildings, to strengthen the construction of infrastructure and reasonable land arrangement and to build a harmonious and green rural landscape.
