As a time-honored cultural activity, translation has made progress along with the development of human civilization. It seems that translation has always been neutral until it was affected by feminist ideas. Nonetheless, there is so close a relation between gender and translation. In patriarchal culture, translation as well as women was positioned in subordination, derivation and betrayal. With the involvement of gender perspective in translation study, feminist translation theory gradually came into being. It focuses on criticizing opinions that female and translation are inferior and humble. Such themes as the gender in translation study, faithfulness and morality in feminist translation, feminist translator's subjectivity as well as the creativity of feminist translation are what it emphasizes, among which translator's subjectivity is the most important one. There are two means to demonstrate feminist translator's subjectivity: one is the derivation of translation, the other is translator's comment and thesis delivered with translation.Generally speaking, under the influence of feminism, gender is combined with translation comprehensively. Thus, feminist translation practice, translation theory and translation criticism gradually emerged.Sense and Sensibility is the first work of English writer Jane Austen. According to uncompleted statistics, there are hundreds of Chinese versions of Sense and Sensibility during 1980-2016, among which Chinese versions by male translators such as Sun Zhili,Wu Chonghan, and Luo Wenhua and female translators such as Cheng Suiciang,Huang Huimin and Jiang Chunxiang are more popular. In this thesis, the Chinese versions by male translator Wu Chonghan and female translator Huang Huimin are chosen by the author to discuss their differences from the perspective of feminist translation theory and translator's gender. Lexis, sentential structuring, emotional expressing and translation strategies are taken into consideration when comparing the two Chinese versions. In this way, the thesis attempts to study whether gender consciousness is reflected intentionally or unintentionally by translators of different genders during the process of translation, and how their translations are influenced by their gender.
