According to the interpretation of the "scrub" in the "Modern Chinese Dictionary"(Sixth Edition),the scrubbing class monosyllabic verb is defined as: the class of verbs whose rational meaning consist of semantic features of clean and wash..And then,we identify 25 scrubbing class monosyllabic verbs meet the conditions in the "Modern Chinese Dictionary"(Sixth Edition): ca,chong, dang,di,dun, guan, huan, jian, jing, kai,mo,mu,piao, shi, shu, shua, shuan,tu,tuo, wen, wen,xi,yu,zao, zhuo. The research of this paper on the scrubbing class monosyllabic verbs use the theoretical knowledges and methods of vocabulary and grammar. On the base of using previous research fruit, this paper adopt the method of corpus to do exhaustive research with arguments that the scrubbing class monosyllabic verbs can match, discussing their semantic development, analyzing and summing up their items, correcting and perfecting dictionaries. The article is divided into three parts in all.The first part is introduction, writing the source, the research status, the study subjects, the research purposes, the research methods and the limitation of the topic. Not only has it induced the existing research result, but also has pointed out the innovation of this paper. In general, the past research on the related verbs mainly reveals its semantic features and grammatical features from the perspective of semantic field, grammar and etc. But,there is few people applying corpus to do exhaustive research with the verb collocation to argument to study the semantic system and evolution, which is a new perspective, but also the innovation of this article. The second part is the text.In this paper, the 25 types of single syllable verbs are classified according to their semantic meaning, which are classified as "wipe" and "wash".In the first and the second chapter, the article research mainly to their interpretation and argument collocation of the monosyllabic verb "shi ","kai","mo" in the "wipe" and the monosyllabic verb "di","chong","piao","shu","zhuo" in the "wash".In addition,we can sum up their meanings, perfecting its semantic system and reveal its semantic evolution. It can be seen that, compared with the traditional way of introspection induction in previous dictionaries, the way of applying corpus to do exhaustive search analysis of the verb collocation argument to summarize the meaning is obviously more scientific and more appropriate. What's more, the corpus is also increasingly perfect. The third chapter is the analysis of the semantic evolution law of the scrubbing class monosyllabic verbs.First of all, their semantic developments are extended from the concrete to the abstract meaning, which is unidirectional.Secondly, they draw new significances by method of the word semantic extension and collocation. Finally, some of them change from hand to mouth with the change of meaning, such as "ca","wen" and "shu".In this paper,we analyze the semantic evolution from the diachronic perspective. The last part is conclusion. It is pointed out that it is feasible to use the corpus to study the verb collocation in order to improve its semantic system and to reveal its semantic evolution, and point out some problems existing in this paper.
