The Study Of Children's Evaluation And Preference Of Cartoon Characters

Based on a certain understanding of children's image evaluation and preference of the animated character,the thesis carries out empirical research of parents questionnaire survey,children nomination survey,children interview survey and experimentation.Study one surveys the status of children watching cartoons,studies the real situation of children watching animations at home from time,variety,place,participation,affection,behavior imitation,parents' company,parents' attitude,character evaluation and the other aspects of it,and gets a preliminary understanding of children's favorite cartoons,cartoon characters and reasons.Study two explores the reasons and influence factors of children's loving for cartoon characters,and comprehends children's evaluation and inclination of anime characters.Third,the thesis carries out experimental validation of children's image evaluation and preference of the cartoon characters.The conclusions of the study are as follows:1.Children love watching cartoons very much,especially Chinese cartoons.They focus their attention during watching and have many imitation behaviors after watching.They watch animations about half an hour each time and about one hour a day totally.Watching cartoons is the main entertainment for children in the evening.More than half of these children watch cartoons every day.Parents support children's behaviors of watching cartoons.2.According to their parents' nomination,children's favorite cartoon is<Boonie Bears>.The favorite cartoon characters are "Briar","Bramble”,"Big head son" and so on.Cartoons of heroes,magic,family,adventure are much-loved by children.Chinese cartoons are popular with children nowadays.Children's love for cartoons and animation characters are affected by elements such as hero,magic,cute,fun,family etc.3.According to children's nomination,they favorite cartoon characters are "Briar","Bramble","Logger Vick","Big head son" and so on.Here are the reasons children gave about why they love some certain characters:first,from the social cognitive dimension,high capacity and high enthusiasm have high word frequency;second,words describing appearance has high frequency,girls were more inclined to make evaluation base on appearance;third,from the gender dimension,few children said they like the same sex animated characters.4.The animation characters' gender,ability,enthusiasm has the remarkable influence to children's affection for them.Children like high ability cartoon characters and male animation characters more.5.There is a passion first principle during children evaluating their love for cartoon characters.Children's favorite cartoon characters successively are high enthusiasm and high ability character,high enthusiasm and low ability character,low enthusiasm and high ability character,low enthusiasm and low ability character.6.For the high ability animated characters(ability=1),six-year-old children love male anime characters more than five-year-old children,five-year-old children love female cartoon characters more than six-year-old children.For the low ability animated characters(ability=2),six-year-old children love female characters more than five-year-old children,five-year-old children warmth male characters more than six-year-old children.
