A Study On Dutiful Son Of Image Of Literary Novel Scripts In Ming And Qing Dynasties,the Concept Of Filial Piety

Dutiful son serves as an important and unique character in ancient Chinese literature and art.A great number of previous literary works describe and shape the image of dutiful son.The number of dutiful son in popular Ming and Qing novels increased sharply with a different style from previous dynasties.This paper analyzes the dutiful sons and filial duty in Ming and Qing story-telling script stories.In the first chapter,the dutiful sons,by the typology,are divided into such six types as supporting,alleviating,mile-tracing,revenging,funeral-holding and family-honoring,based on which the author finds that the reason for the numerous dutiful sons in Ming and Qing story-telling script stories is the high importance to the family values by the writers,praise to the dutiful sons by the governors and the great development of the filial duty itself.In the second chapter,the author analyzes the image of the dutiful sons in the story-telling script novels from the perspective of plots,artistic methods and artistic defects.There are such three plot modes as mile-tracing,revenging and telepathy to create the image of dutiful son.The author describes the characters’ images,languages as well as psychological activities through their daily actions,discovering the model of filial duty by the contrary among different images.However,there are some defects in the creation of the dutiful sons,such as the same plots as well as the unreal actions and logics by the characters.In the third chapter,the writer analyzes the dutiful son from the perspective of filial duty in Ming and Qing story-telling script novels and the critics on filial duty in contemporary time.The filial duty showed by the dutiful sons in the script novels,to some degree,may be utilitarian,intolerable and ignorant,but they still boast a great number of merits,like making family harmony,resolving the old-aging issue and improving the old-age security mechanism,thus promoting the long-term stability and security of the country.In this sense,these filial duties should be carried on in a critical manner.Only in this way can people establish the modern filial culture suitable for the demand of the society and can the filial duty play a full in role the establishment the harmonious society.
