The Felicity Of Interpretative Theory Of Translation In Political C-E Consecutive Interpretation

Premier Li's press conference held annually provides the world with the access to China's latest policies.The interpreter is required to have the quick response and accurate delivery while tackling obstacles including linguistic and cultural differences such as the linguistic features in press conference and pressure from the site.The adoption of multiple interpretive coping tactics help the interpreter in the process of comprehension,deverbalization and reformulation before the successful delivery.Therefore,the thesis will discuss if interpretative theory of translation is suitable Chinese-English consultative interpretation rendered in Chinese press conference with the transcripts of the Premier Li's press conference from 2014 to 2016 as the objective for analytical study in the guidance of interpretive theory of translation.The thesis holds that interpretive theory enjoys felicity in Chinese-English interpretation on such political occasions by analyzing the interpreter's cognition,information processing and the delivery of the speaker's rhetorical devices,conducive to narrowing down the contextual gap between both source and target language,maintaining accurate message and intact sentence structure,delivering illegible information to the addressees.However,several disadvantages are exposed in the felicity of this theory,mainly concentrated on how much an interpreter should deverbalize the source language,which leads to undermining the cultural sensation in source language,causing variation in cognition and ambiguity in sense delivery.
