The new age novels have shown a breakthrough to the traditional novels from the subject,artistic features and literature ideas.This text analyzed the methods and characteristics of writing social problems in the new age novels,summarize the unique expressive methods,explore the transformation of literary conception and the function in the history of modern novels.The first chapter mainly introduce the theme of the new age novels.The authors had shown the events like opium problem,imperial examination system and female foot-binding vividly.The second chapter summarizes the characteristics of the new age novels in creative arts.Different from traditional novels,the “new” embodies in the use of illustrations and contrast methods to expose foot-binding firstly.Second is the rich variety of novel language,such as spoken dialects and dialogue,lyrics operas and fable as well as the use of the vernacular words.The third is the new age novels tend to make comments.The third chapter discusses the change on the new age novels in the literary concept.The new age novels are the product of the social malaise period of late Qing Dynasty,under the influence of the dissemination of west learning,the authors had changed their views,also attaches great importance to the social value of the novel,put forward the feasible for salvation in the novels,such as reform of education and policy,learning advanced western science and liberating female foot-binding.In the conclusion,the text discusses the question which how to make a confirming orientation for the new age novels,and analyze its influence on whether there is new novel,so as to the status of the new age novels have a more clear understanding,to make reasonable positioning in the literature history.
