| This interpreting practice report recorded the entire process of an interpreting task based on a BBC documentary,A Culinary Adventure-Chengdu,as the object of interpretation.Throughout the preparation and later analysis,this report interpreted the completed record and included an introduction,various translation comparisons and analysis.The purpose of this report was to better reveal and tackle problems during the interpretation task.Documentaries narrate real stories and should comply with the following guidelines: no plot fabrications,no acting,no place and environment alternations and no changes of the course of life.Sichuan cuisine is the theme of the story.The documentary gave a detailed run-down of the culture and customs of Sichuan province,which inspired the author to venture into a deeper understanding of the capital city,Chengdu,and its unique cultural background during the interpretation.In addition,the documentary serves as a platform to promote the customs of Chengdu and showcases Chengdu cuisine’s widespread impact on the rest of the world.The interpreter adopted the theory of sense during the process of interpretation.The theory is often applied during interpretation practices.Guided by the theory,the article includes a variety of related cases and focuses on the analysis of such types of interpretation materials.With the intention to better summarize the difficulties and exceptions encountered in the process of interpretation,the interpreter focused on the comparative analysis of colloquialization and regional interpretation skills.The author hopes that through the power of analytics,substantive assistance will be provided for self-improvement and future interpreting activities. |
