Patricia Highith, an American Psycho Crime novelist, is one of the most popular female writers in contemporary America. Her crime and murder fictions, gloor been widely welcomed all over the world. The study of Highsmith adapted from her novels ,mainly focuses on the social meanings and the character images. However, her narrative strategies of the novel is of great significance for the deepening of the theme. Rhetorical narratology is one of the postclassical narrative theories flourished in 1990s the school,in the work study, the interaction in the process of narration, the author pays attention to communication between the text and the reader, but also concerned about the narrative techniques produced in the text and the reader's interpretation of literary effect. Therefore, the author will take James Phelan's post classical narrative rhetoric theory as the research method to interpret Patricia Highith "Ripley series of novels" of the narrative art of interpretation of this series of complex narrative strategies and narrative rhetoric effect the significance and value of the mining in the works.The narrative perspective in narrative discourse from the narrative voice of research works in narrative techniques, narrative process,narrative ethics judgment basis analysis text, narrative rhetoric and rhetorical significance of novel art study.This thesis consists of four chapters. The first chapter is the introduction, which introduces Patricia Highsmith and her works, the current situation and development background of rhetorical narratology, the domestic and foreign research related to Highsmith, the main research contents,research objectives and methods of this paper. In the second chapter, the author uses the rhetorical narratology to study the dialogue and communication between the readers and the characters in the novel. The third chapter analyzes the contradiction between characters and characters, characters themselves, characters and story world, and how these contradictions promote the narrative process". The fourth chapter carries on the ethical judgment to the novel character, the narrator and the author, aesthetic judgment of the narrative time and space of the novel . and probes into the form of the novel and its artistic value. In the conclusion part, the full text is summarized, and the significance of the rhetorical interpretation of the novel is emphasized.
