Drama stage is an important part of Chinese traditional opera culture,it is also a concrete carrier of Chinese opera performances.It accompanied and witnessed the formation and development of Chinese opera.Since the Song Dynasty,the drama stage began to breed,develop,and perfected in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.After the author's investigation,there exist over 50 ancient drama stages in Nantong.Most of them are the constructions of late Ming Dynasty and Minguo times.It has important significance for the study of drama culture and architectural culture of Nanchong in Qing Dynasty.Based on the existing ancient drama stages in Nanchong city,this paper conducted investigation.Through literature,field survey and interviews with local people,this paper collected data and summarized the location,distribution pattern,building development,architectural form,preservation conditions and so on,thus formed Nanchong's first systematic and comprehensive data record.Nanchong is the center of Sichuan opera,where the drama culture prosperous and drama stages stand in great numbers.The author studied that there are over 50 ancient drama stages,but because of disrepair,man-made destruction,or many other reasons,they are slowly dying,so the situation needs to be concerned.Therefore,the author of this article makes every effort to describe the 50 existing ancient drama stages and their combination buildings of Nanchong,and through the field survey and the referring of literature data,this paper discussed the value and meaning of ancient dramas in Nanchong region.The author hopes to fill the blank of the research on ancient Nanchong drama stages and also provides a material basis for the experts and scholars in the study the cultural relics of Sichuan opera.
