In the Republic period,Rome raised itself inaccessibly.Through a series of conquest,It has obtained hegemony in Mediterranean Sea.The victory of military and steady of political environment is good for the development of Roman economy.Originally,the Roman attached importance to the agriculture,and under the wing of the exceptional good weather conditions,in addition to the effective methods of government,so the whole agriculture level is improved.The development of agriculture also improved the whole economy.When all the war was over,many land was confiscated,sold or rented,the Roman nobleman and the rich merchant found business opportunity,they seized competitively and annexed small-scale peasants' land.So Latifundium began to appear.By the way,it broke traditional agricultural layout.Additionally,Latifundium has its peculiar historical backgrounds,its inner formation and concrete operation is full of complexity and diversity.What is more,it has exerted deep influence on the future of Roman policy and social economy.Additionally,the tradition of management of estate is not appeared with the extinction of Rome.On the contrary,it is be preserved completely,especially when entered into modern times,the nationalities of Europe and America are established one by one,this is still one of the important ways of agricultural management.This thesis is based on the history documents and founded on the fruit of Chinese and foreigner scholars' research.At the beginning,it set forth the excellent natural conditions.Then explained about attaching importance to the tradition of agriculture.Latter,expounded Villa estate and Latifundium in detail respectively.At the forth part,I gave an elaborate account for the inner structure.In the end,I recounted the influence of the Latifundium.
