On Interpreter’s Subjectivity From The Perspective Of George Steiner’s Hermeneutic Motion

Since the "cultural turn" in the West in the 1970s,the translator’s position and contribution have gained increasing attention in the translation activity and the translator’s subjectivity has become a research hotspot in translation studies.George Steiner’s fourfold hermeneutic motion provides a new theoretical basis and research method for the study of the translator’s and interpreter’s subjectivity.Under these circumstances,the thesis aims to explore the interpreter’s subjectivity based on the interpreting practice from the perspective of George Steiner’s hermeneutic motion.Under the theoretical framework of George Steiner ’s hermeneutic motion,the thesis analyzes the interpreter’s subjectivity in line with trust,aggression,incorporation and restitution respectively through many examples of the author’s interpreting practice.Thus it can be seen that the interpreter’s subjectivity shows an intensifying trend from the four motions,which contributes to improve the interpreting quality by giving full play of interpreter’s subjectivity.
