The Texture Of Rock Color Materials And The Aesthetic Expression Of Art

The concept of "rock color" was first proposed by a group of painters who studied in Japan in the 1990s. They combined the Japanese painting techniques which they studied in Japan with traditional Chinese heavy color painting, from perspective of the material and in an open and relaxed attitude, they put forward the new concept "rock color". "Rock color" is the color of the rock, we generally mentioned rock color is a kind of pigment, but it is different from we usually said Chinese painting pigments. It was made of different colored rocks grinded powder with different sizes of crystal, some of which were directly grinded with natural mineral stone, and some are artificial stones which were fired with mineral stone such as quartz, also known as "new rock". In addition, it also includes earth color, metal color, water dry color, mica color, flash color,foil and so on.Rock color painting is based on mineral color,drawn on paper, board,wall or other different materials. Rock color painting regards on color language and material texture and generates images through overlapping layers. The images have colorful, glittering,translucent beauty and strong decorative. Furthermore, they have shiny,rugged,extensive and fine and so on many kinds of material texture characteristics. You can use collage, grinding, rubbing, carving and other techniques to enrich the image. The materials and techniques in the image can be directly sublimated from the means to the aesthetic object.This paper analyzes the texture and artistic aesthetics of the rock color materials from four parts. The first chapter gives a brief introduction for the definition of rock color and the beauty of rock color material from color, quality, texture three aspects. In the second chapter, through the excavation and development of traditional materials, and analysis of contemporary rock color with the rich language of material and more emphasis on material, texture and performance techniques of painting diversification,leading to the diversity of artistic aesthetic expression and the change of artistic concept.The third chapter analyzes the subjective expression and the artistic form of the rock color material in the contemporary art by the cases of the artists. The artists who was analyzed are Hu Mingzhe, Zhang Daoxi, Tang Yongli, Jiang Caiping. The fourth chapter gives a brief analysis of the significance of the study of the rock color material.Rock color painting using a wide range of materials, when we put the beauty of the material to the aesthetic object, the new material involved, is no longer simply to add an element, it seems that everything needs to change. It mentions observation angle, way of thinking and production process. Therefore,new materials bring a new aesthetic realm and the change of the concept. The comprehensive nature of materials, the diversity of performance techniques, the modernity of painting ideas, making the works of rock color painting rich and heavy, the images have strong decorative and symbolic and emphasizing the planarity and the composing of the images. The rock painter combines the material language of the painting material with its artistic concept to express his own experience of the present society.
