Research On Congratulation Speech Act Verbs In Contemporary Chinese

The objective of this study is congratulation speech act verbs in contemporary Chinese.Congratulation speech act verbs are small parts of verbs that are combined congratulation and speech act according to their meaning.They have characters of[+Shuangxiang][+Xishi][+Zhudong][+Shuohua][+Chuandixinxi][+Hexizhiqing].And they are used to express the emotion of speakers to listeners,which are belonging to speech act verbs.According to the methods from previous studies that are about the category of verbs and using three levels theory,we systematically describe the characters of congratulation speech act verbs in semantic,syntactic and pragmatic.The first part is an introduction.We introduce the objective,contents,purpose and significance of this study.We also review the relative literatures,including study of verbs,specific study of a small kind of verbs,study of speech act verbs and theory of speech act and so on.And then we introduce the methods and the source of language materials that we use.The second part defines the congratulation speech act verbs.Firstly,we define the congratulation speech act verbs according to the concept of speech act verbs and character of congratulation speech act.And then we redefine congratulation speech act verbs in terms of their semantic character.We choose nine most representive and most frequently used congratulation speech act verbs from "Modern Chinese Dictionary"(the Seven Edition)as the objective of the present study.The third part studies the semantic character of congratulation speech act verbs.We analyze nine congratulation speech act verbs using the model analysis method "semantic component and semantic structure" that proposed by Fu huaiqing.We find the same and the different semantic characters among these nine verbs.We also summarize the semantic conjugate mode of congratulation speech act verbs.The fourth part describes the syntactic features of congratulation speech act verbs.We discuss the case when congratulation speech act verbs are used as subjects,objects and attributes.We also investigate the case when congratulation speech act verbs are with object and special adverbs "Huxiang" and "Xianghu".In addition,we analyze the sentence selection pattern of nine congratulation speech act verbs one by one.Based on our analysis and description,the syntactic distribution,sentence selection and case with object of congratulation speech act verbs are demonstrated to be closely associated with their semantic feature.The fifth part investigates the characters of congratulation speech act verbs in pragmatic.Congratulation speech act verbs are parallel to congratulation speech acts but they are not counterpoints.We emphasize the characters of congratulation speech act verbs when they are used as perform active verbs in three aspects of speech communication,which are speakers,listeners and communicative contents.Moreover,we study the omitted rules and presupposition of congratulation speech act verbs.
