A Report On The Interpretation Of The Commentary Of The CIRS In University Of British Columbia

This report describes an accompanying interpreting practice which derives from visiting a building named CIRS(Center for Interactive Research on Sustainability)in University of British Columbia,a prestigious university in the world.This interpreting task has been finished during the time when the interpreter participated in a training of interpreting in UBC on July,2016.The author served as an accompanying interpreter for a group of Chinese students who studying there.Oliver Spencer,a senior student in UBC,was the guide of CIRS.The form of translation is the consecutive interpretation which translate English to Chinese.This report analyzes factors that will affect interpreting and difficulties in accompanying interpreters.Meanwhile analyzes the difficulties during interpreting.Exploring the corresponding translation strategies and solutions through the analysis of these factors and difficulties of interpretation.This report begins with a description of the interpreting task,which includes an introduction to the source of the interpreting task,a brief text,and an analysis of the meaning of the translation project.Then the interpreter introduced the interpreting process,which includes interpreting preparation,and introspection after the task.The main part of this report is the case analyzing,the author selected a number of representative parts of the case analysis,respectively focused on the energy and environmental protection professional vocabulary translation processing,translation of the acronym,the energy industry professional vocabulary translation And other issues.Obviously,a large number of absurd terminology might be involved in the interpreting procedure,so the principles of explicitness and implicitness are adopted by the interpreter.For the sake of conveying what exactly the speaker says,interpreter will inevitably impose some implication and omission on the source text.As a report on the interpretation of environmental energy,it mainly give expression to the strategies on how to translate the text of the environment and energy properly.With the rapid development of China's economy,the series of environmental problems occurs subsequently,and there will be more and more people concerned about it,so the interpretation of the report has a certain reference value.The author hopes that this report will provide a valuable reference to the people who are devoted to the area of Environment and Energy or engaged in the accompanying interpreting.
