Children’s novel is a kind of literature that targets at children readers and reflects children’s mentality. As China takes a more profound look at the western world, western children’s literature gains its proportions for its significance on the building of children’s values and personalities,as well as on providing nutritious refreshment for children for their spare time.During the introduction of western children’s literature to China, translation is the key process for its quality determines whether Chinese readers can fully perceive the text, such as plots and characters, and stylistic features similarly to those of source text readers. This report is based on the translating practice of the English-Chinese Translation of Little Bits of Sky,a piece of children’s literature written by British novelist S.E.Durrant.It tells a story of the growing-up and care-life of a pair of unloved orphan sister and brother Miracle and Zac in Skilly House.Since its genre is children’s literature, the critical and difficult point is how to render the source text in conformity with children readers’ expectations and requirements. The translator chooses dynamic equivalence theory formulated by Eugene A.Nida as guidance, and endeavors to contribute to adequate intelligibility and close aesthetic feelings to those of the source text. The report consists of five chapters. The first and second chapter focus on the introduction and translation preparation respectively. In Chapter Three and Chapter Four, the author briefs the definition of equivalence and Nida’s Dynamic Equivalence Theory and how to realize dynamic equivalence, and Chapter Four covers case studies to demonstrate how to from meaning to style, reproduce the information in source language through the most natural and close equivalent item in target language, and guarantee the message of the original text has been so transported into the receptor language that the response of the receptor is essentially like that of the original receptor.
