Research On The Visual Language Of Hanxiu Decorative Patterns And Its Application In Gift Packaging

Han embroidery is one of top ten Chinese traditional embroidery craftworks,together with Suzhou embroidery,Hunan embroidery and Sichuan embroidery.Han embroidery is mainly popular in Wuhan,Jingzhou and Honghu city in Hubei Province.With broad decorative patterns and bright colors,it represents the totem worship,folk life and spiritual believes of human beings in Hubei province.In order to appreciate and learn from the decorative patterns of Han embroidery in the view of art,analysis and interpretation is indispensable.This thesis analyzed the functions,significance and beauty values of the decorative patterns of the Han embroidery from the intrinsic,and studied the relationship between the symbol patterns and the contents by perceiving the decorative patterns of Han embroidery as visual symbol.What’s more,the characteristics and transmitting process of the visual language in Han decorative patterns were elucidated.As the basis of the visual language studies,the summarizations and clarifications of the visual vocabularies are inevitable to understanding the visual languages.Firstly,this thesis divided the visual vocabularies of Han embroidery decorative patterns to four categories by data collecting and reorganization,which included flower plants,animals,persons and descriptive literatures.A representative analysis of the pattern of the birds,the peony pattern,the lotus pattern,the auspicious flower pattern and so on.Secondly,the grammar of the visual language in Han embroidery decorative patterns is the basis of studying the visual vocabularies organization and the relationships,thus we analyzed the composition rules and divided to even and free composition patterns,and further categorized according to the composition patterns to three including group decorations,square decorations and scattered decorations.Thirdly,the visual semanteme characteristics were summarized deriving from the visual symbols.We analyzed the effects of elements including nature and society on the visual semanteme and divided the semanteme to totem worship,religious ceremony,festival celebration and begging happy life.The explanation of the semanteme helps for the further understanding of the visual language of Han embroidery decorative patterns.Lastly,the practicability,the recently practical situation and principles of the Han embroidery decoration patterns applied in the gift decoration were evaluated in the view of visual vocabularies,semanteme,grammer and context,and design and practice were tried afterwards.Embroidery as a local embroidery in the industrial development after the impact of the face of the crisis of failure.In the face of such a grim situation,this paper starts from the aspects of the decorative pattern of Han embroidery,and regards the ornamental pattern of Han embroidery as a visual symbol,and studies its visual vocabulary,grammar,semantics and context,and compares it with the same geographical environment Under the combination of gift packaging,looking for embroidery pattern of visual language and gift packaging design integration point,and the decorative pattern of Han embroidery for innovative design.Will Han embroidered unique artistic features to every consumer,hoping to promote the sale of goods at the same time for the Han embroidery to bring new development and new opportunities.
