As an artistic treasure of China,Chinese painting enjoys a long,profound history.And in addition to special material and composition method,it also takes the pen and ink language as a medium,to display our national characteristics of painting effect.Without the pen and ink,which are the core of traditional Chinese painting techniques,a painting cannot be described as a traditional Chinese painting.Generation Generations of artists in the creating process have given us many precious wealth of knowledge,from the techniques,a hook,wrinkle method,brush,and point,to some techniques,such as in the ink method,thick,pale,coke,accommodation,broken and so on.This article mainly illustrates the history of Chinese ink freehand brushwork on flowers and birds painting,writing,ink and ink technique,character of pen and ink,the artistic conception of pen and ink,and ink lyricism.Pen and ink are not only technique.it is a kind of spirit,the soul of our traditional Chinese painting,the lifeblood off freehand painting in China.Therefore,in the freehand brushwork of traditional Chinese painting of flowers and birds at various stages in the development process of artists,artists payed high attention to the combination of the importance of ink and the spirit.While we are learning Chinese freehand brushwork flowers and birds painting after copying,sketching through these stages,we will gain insight ideas and understandings from the study will be described in this paper.the aim is to make the ink no longer just an object to solve the problem of modelling and realistic images of the performance physical objects,but also a means to express true feelings and to reach a state where the artist and the object can be well unified in the thinking and creation.
