| The translation of celebrity biography has been a hot topic concerned by translators in recent years. There have been a great many translated works between Chinese and English. However, the research into the process and strategies of celebrity biography translation is not so much, especially from Chinese to English.This report chooses Jackie Chan: A Living Legend (excerpts) as the source text to conduct translation practice and adopts Peter Newmark’s communicative translation as the guiding theory. Under the guidance of the theory, this translation report discusses the difficulties in translating the source text and then explores corresponding strategies through analyzing some typical examples.The report consists of five chapters. Chapter One briefly explains significance and research background of this translation practice,and then introduces the writer.Chapter Two describes the three stages of translation process in details. Chapter Three discusses Peter Newmark’s communicative translation theory and application on translating the source text. Chapter Four analyzes the difficult points in translating the source text and explores how to cope with them by using corresponding strategies and techniques. Chapter Five makes a summary of the translation report,including the limitations and problems that cannot be solved currently. |
