A Place Of Virtue

The documentary mainly records a social team performing the fork art called shanshu from Hanchuan,Hubei province,which tells a story about the captain of the shanshu team—Xiong Naiguo and his menbers try their best to protect the stage of shanshu from the threats in their own unique way.As a special traditional culture,Shanshu has been passed down for more than 200 years,and due to the serious loss of audience and the lack of government support,it eventually has been at risk of vanishing.It means that,shanshu,which is the only way for them to make a living,has cost them much energy and emotion for half a lifetime,now is under threat as never before.And the conflicts caused by benefit gambling among many different groups happen very often.The documentary focuses on the life of Xiong Naiguo,showing the related events and activities with great reality.It depicts a civil society group's difficult survival present situation,the communication with the audience,the interaction with the media and the cooperation and struggle with the government departments.So it reveals the difficulties and the way out of Chinese traditional culture in the modern society,as well as the complicated and multifaceted humanity when facing many realistic factors.
