“Qiong Lin Ya Yun”and“Ci Lin Yun Shi”,as the representative Quyun(??)rhyme book during the Ming Dynasty, are important for the Chinese modern phonetic history. The two books are inextricably linked in style and phonological structure, with the“Zhong Yuan Yin Yun”,a series of rhyming dictionaries, although“Ci Lin Yun Shi”was brought out nearly a hundred years later than“Qiong Lin Ya Yun”.At present, the research about the two books in academic circles was mainly focused on the single book and comparative study with“Zhong Yuan Yin Yun”,while the comprehensive and in-depth comparative study of two books is still a blank. This paper mainly adopts the comparative method to analyze deeply the similarities and differences of the two books in the compilation style, literature and phonological structure. It studies the reasons of the differences between the two books to clarify the inheritance and comb the evolution of modern Chinese phonetics history. The thesis is divided into four parts:The first chapter introduces the origin and significance of the research subject and states the present research situation, the surviving versions of “Qiong Lin Ya Yun” and “Ci Lin Yun Shi”and the research methods used. The second chapter mainly studies the same point between“Qiong Lin Ya Yun”and“Ci Lin Yun Shi”from the three aspects, including the first word and order of the small rhyme(??)and the order of rhyming words. The third chapter mainly studies the different points between“Qiong Lin Ya Yun”and“Ci Lin Yun Shi”from five aspects, including the first rhyme word, other words of the rhyme, the rhyming words displacements, the merging and segregation of the small rhyme(??),and the increasing and decreasing variant pronunciation. The fourth chapter summarizes the above chapters.Through the layers of analysis of the “Ci Lin Yun Shi” and “ Qiong Lin Ya Yun” and access to the medieval and contemporaneous rhyme books, the result is that there are more differences than similarities between the two books. The Inheritance relationship between the two books is mainly reflected in the compilation of the system, the first rhyme, rhyme word shape and small rhyme order. In the compilation of the system,"Ci Lin Yun Shi" is basically inherited from "Qiong Lin Ya Yun" with the "rhyme-tune-sound" structure. The 62.11% of all small rhyme's first words is exactly same,1.34% of the rhyme word shape has changed, thus determining that the rhyming words of the two books are basically similar. The differences between the two books are mainly reflected in the rhyme word displacement, small rhyme merging and segregation, different reading of the rhyme, etc.,from which you can get the changes in the actual voice of the Ming Dynasty.Such as the initials, full voiced consonant disappear in "Ci Lin Yun Shi";the initial consonant Ying(?),Yu(?),combined with Yi(?)began to to become zero initial. The vowel, the first and third Deng(?)with the initial consonant groups of Zhuang(?)and Lai(?)of Tong She(??)began to mix;the first and second Deng(?)with the velar sound(??)and radical consonant(???)of Xie She(??)began to mix and so on.In addition, the open accent and close accent are mixed. The round lip sound“u”began to change into lip and teeth sound“v”;the vowel of"Bei"changed from“ei”to“i”.The increasing variant pronunciation of “Ci Lin Yun Shi” is mainly based on "Hong Wu Zheng Yun";the decreasing variant pronunciation is mainly inherited from "Yun Lue Yi Tong".Compared to “Qiong Lin Ya Yun”,the rhyme words' pronunciation of “Ci Lin Yun Shi” is more closer to the modern Mandarin pronunciation.
