A Study On Gender Politics Of Taiwanese Films

Gender is different from sex,this is a political invention which has power effect,there is a ruling and being ruling dominant and dominant unequal power relationship between different and same gender.This is the concept of gender politics and this is the main part of this paper at the same time.By carding the films from Taiwanese film period to the new century,this paper elaborates on gender politics from the following three aspects.The first is the road of rebellion and breakthrough of female in social system.In the shape of Taiwanese film,they portray many images of the dazzling female.Through a systematic and comprehensive study,the paper analyzes the evolution of female images and summarizes the struggle and redemption of women under the patriarchy.The second is the opposition and struggle between the female self and being the other.Using existential feminism theory to demonstrate the reality that women become "the second sex",the most important is to explore the awakening of female consciousness and the efforts of female for self identity and self confirmation.Third is the use of queer theory to research the struggle between multi gender theory and the "essence theory".Through specific text analysis,combing the shows of Taiwanese film in multiple gender,and make analysis and interpretation of the context,background,reason of this phenomenon,and summarizes the evolution and change of the Taiwanese social democratic atmosphere.This paper is divided into four chapters.In the first chapter,the author points out the existence of women under the oppression of patriarchy in two dimensions: the film industry and the film theme.At this time the women in the film is not the real protagonist,they are regulated under the traditional morality,to surrender to the edge of the patriarchal system and do not know.In Taiwanese "new film" period,the specific characteristics of the female image is in the transition period.On the one hand,due to the strong patriarchal society,they have to be in the face of oppression;on the other hand,due to the impact of the spread of western feminism and the feminist movement in Taiwanese,some of the women in the movie,begin to consciously wake up from the patriarchal system,there is the new image of women who dare to break the patriarchal system in the pursuit of self value,but this is very limited.And it is noteworthy that the female director also begin directing films.The second chapter is from female self against the fate of being the other,mainly through the analysis of the text demonstrates the identity issues of women,from the external social system of oppression and resistance levels to further transition to the pursuit of female self existence value and subject consciousness,focusing on physical passions and emotional attachment,female gradually from "being seen" turn into owning the autonomy of self body,sexuality and emotion.The third chapter is from gender politics to politics,focusing on talking about the gender metaphor of Taiwanese films,showing concern in the change of social concernthemes,reflecting the relationship between Taiwan local society and mainland China through the appearance of the evolution of gender politics.The fourth chapter summarizes the evolution of the discourse in gender politics,from the feminist discourse classic,that is the stable power relation,heterosexual hegemony and now "reconciliation" and "compromise" of the new feminist discourse,at this stage,women and men have to be people first,then be the "man"or "woman",that is to acknowledge the differences,respect personality is the way to achieve gender discrimination.Finally,presenting the utopian ideals of gender politics,according to the modern scholar Butler's gendered performance and flow ",it summs up the unique gender wandering phenomenon in Taiwanese movies,and Taiwanese as the only Asian region adopting a gay marriage law,this major breakthrough will have a huge impact in L(lesbian),G(gay),B(bisexual),T(transgender),the minority gender group,only when such groups have the same social power and equal mastery of social resources as the erosexual groups,then we can say good-bye to the gender politics,to the oppression and domination,to the confrontation and conflict.But the road is rugged and long,but it is also full of hope.This chapter makes a forecast and outlook for their future.
