This is a project report on the translation of Chapter 6 of “ Think Simple:How Smart Leaders Defeat Complexity ” authored by Ken Segall,a CEO in Apple Company.The book was based on observations gained from twelve years working as Steve Jobs' s advertising agency creative director,first with Ne XT and then with A pple.He saw firsthand that Jobs looked at everything through the lens of simplicity.His obsession with simplicity was not just visible in Apple's products.You could see it in the way the company organized,innovated,advertised,sold at retai l,and provided customer service.This book is the result of his journey into simplicit yin companies around the world.Many of the “heroes of simplicity” profiled in this book are probably not on your list of usual suspects.Segall had conversations with over forty men and women from a wide range of industries,in companies big and small,established and up-and-coming,famous and below under the radar.Considering that the source text belongs to informative texts,the project adopts Newmark's “communicative translation” strategy as guidance,combined with the concrete translation practice.Chapter 4 concludes with the experience and lessons from the translation as well as the problems to be resolved.Moreover,it is hoped that this report can summarizes the skills of the informative text translation and provide a reference for the study in future.
