| Invisible man is a full-length novel which was published in1952 by the black writer Ralph Ellison,and it is the only one full-length novel that was published during Ellison’s lifetime.In the novel,except the prelude and the epilogue,Ellison uses three parts which are the college life,the experience of the paint factory in New York,and the Harlem’s experience represent us a black young man’s life experience,describe the black young man from the south to the north,and from na?ve to mature.This novel was caused a sensation in the United States after its publishment,now,it has become a far-reaching literary classic in the history of American literature.Up to now,more and more scholars in the domestic and overseas are attracted by its rich text content,excellent artistic and aesthetic value,scholars take extensive research on it.The researchers have many academic interpretation to the novel from different theoretical perspectives,form now on,emerging out many research achievements.All of this due to the novel’s possibility of Multi-angle interpretation,The novel has multiple subject structure and diverse creative writing skills.Inspired by Michael Ryan’s theory of Multi-angle interpretation,this thesis is to use Postcolonial cultural critical theory,theory of initiation story and the existential view of human nature to unscramble this novel,and to explore its ideological implication and artistic value from many kinds angle.This thesis uses the method of Multi-angle interpretation neither use works to support theory,also is not simple addition of a single theoretical interpretation and haphazardly,But the theory and the theory of exposition,each other mutual invention theory and text.In this thesis,the structure is divided into three parts.Namely,introduction,main body and conclusion.The first part is the introduction part,mainly introducing Ralph Ellison as well as this novel,reviewing the research situation at home and abroad,Introducing the research methods and research significance of this thesis.The second part is the main body of the thesis,discussing from three chapters.The first chapter takes discussion from the perspective of postcolonial cultural critique theory,by analyzing the marginalized black youth’s experience of exploringhis identity,by analyzing the cause of black men double identity in the post-colonial context,in the end,coming up with the method of the black identity construction.And that is identification and merge.The second chapter mainly around the growth topic to discuss,from the plot of the story,the leader on the road,the growth of ceremony,insight and so on several aspects in detail.By analyzing these aspects of writing techniques to reveal the growth theme of the novel,the protagonist of the awakening of self-consciousness in the important role in the process of personal growth.The third chapter around Sartre’s existential human nature,analysis Ralph Ellison’s human nature exploration in the novel,we can conclude that black humanity are not Eternal fixed essence,But in an effort to generations of blacks constantly construct.The last part of conclusion part is summary of the whole thesis,summarized the Ellison’s writing style and the center of this thesis expounds thought and main points.Discussed in this article are built around a central theme,namely human nature.The human nature in this thesis refers to when people are in search of significance of existence shows the infinite possibility of individual,the awakening of self consciousness and self value and social responsibility. |
