Study On Li Qing Jun's "Religious Novel"

Many of Lee Cheongjun,s novels have religious material,so that he is misunderstood as a Christian.The representative works include "jesus in the garden of happiness","your kingdom of heaven","tantra secret fire","the story of the worm" and so on.The main topics are relation of religious and human,power operation,writing.Expecially "Come upon lower"discussed above questions in a critical view.In this paper,based on the methods of social history criticism,existentialist philosophy and novel aesthetics,examine the background of this text,on this basis,through the analyses of characters' image and social relations,the ideologies and artistic quality are summarized.In turn,the theme of awareness and artistic features of the novel are proved."Come upon lower" is a biography that tells the life of the real man,the Reverend Jorn Ann.The novel shows the writer's understanding and reflection of the existence of God and rescue when the Christians show power expanding,and the Christian symbol of victory and success.In the 1970s,South Korea is the political foundation of the Revitalizing Reform,promoting a strong modernization of capitalism modernizaton.But the economic industrialization that has been achieved in a short time has brought many serious disadvantages such as polarization,class contradictions,twisted human nature to the Korean society.This paper in view of the social background and religious status of South Korea in the 1970s,firstly analyzes the despair and demand of the common people struggling in the social structure of industial capitalism,and how is Lee chengjun's novel presented.And then through the analysis of the meaning of death and salvation embodied in the work,this paper explores the philosophical nature of the author's literary thought.As mentioned above,the novel focuses on the evils of Christianity presented by the booming economy,and the idolatries obedience and redemption wishes.The author finally to existential thought and Minjung theology,revealed the right religion that he was looking for,and the greatness of the human power that any suffrering can not stop.The novel is baded on the structure of "growth novel",which has the psychological description of confession and repentance,showing the strong willpower of the hero.And it reflects the importance of social problems and human sprit in a more realistic way in the form of a biography.
