From the end of the eighteenth century and the early nineteenth century,Persia was coveted by both Britain and Russia,because of its superior strategic position and resource advantages.In the second half of the nineteenth century,the competition between Britain and Russia in Persia was intensifying and tense.While with the rise of German power,Russia's failure in the Russo-Japanese War and other international factors,and the various domestic contradictions that Britain and Russia are facing,as well as the Persian constitutional revolution,the British and Russian countries decided to shelve the battle and signed the Anglo-Russian Convention of 1907.The Anglo-Russian Convention of 1907 has important historical significance,which has influenced the foreign policy of Britain and Russia and the historical process of Persia for almost half century.First of all,the agreement has strategic significance on the international situation before the first world war.Secondly,the agreement facilitates the expulsion of a German forces and further control of Britain and Russia in the territory of Persia Persia.Moreover,the content of the agreement and its intention to expand behind also affected the Britain and the Soviet Union's re-divide and control of Persia(1935 renamed as "Iran").Until the intervention of the United States and Britain and the Soviet Union withdrawal from Persia,due to their own strength decline,the occupation situation in Persia that establishment by the Anglo-Russian Convention of 1907 was finally broken.The Anglo-Russian Convention of 1907is the blueprint for the two countries to compete for Persia,from which we can see the basic situation and strategic intent of the United Kingdom and Russia in Persia.
