Narcissism is a concept with rich meanings,involving many fields,such as culture,personality and psychotherapy.It is the foundation and core to describing and explaining the narcissism from the psychological view.Among the various researches on the narcissism,the school of psychoanalysis has obtained satisfactory results on this issue because of its deep and unique perspective and abundant theoretical and clinical experience.Research on the narcissistic disorder of the school of psychoanalysis,beyond the scope of brief description and investigation of related factors,with the interpretation of the deep motivation,internal object relations and defense mechanism,has made considerable achievements in the theory on the narcissism and treatment.This progress is not easy,which the researches of Freud,Klein,Kohut,Homey and Kemberg are more prominent,Freud from the perspective of libido theory and repression mechanism,Klein from the perspective of early object relations,Horney from the perspective of conflict and anxiety,Kohut from the perspective of the self,Kemberg from the perspective of the aggression and defense mechanism.All of them have made a useful theoretical construction of the study of the narcissism.With introducing and analyzing the relevant theories and explanations of the main schools of psychoanalysis,this research finds that the concept of ideal ego is one of the important clues and key in the study of the narcissistic disorder.As early as in Freud's theory,the ideal ego was a vital issue and involved a wide range of contents,such as instinct,repression and superego.Freud tried to explain the narcissistic disorder with the Libidinal investment,emphasizing the role of the ideal ego in repression.Honey emphasized the defensive function of the ideal ego in her neurotic personality theory,and analyzed the important role of the ideal ego in the formation of neurosis and the narcissistic disorder,as a tendency of self enhancement.Kohut stressed that the poor parenting environment would lead to the development defect to the idealized parental imago,resulting in a lack of psychological structure,as well as the damage of ideal ego and the idealization of superego.Kernberg analyzed the defense mechanism of the narcissistic personality disorder,emphasized the grandiose self and the conflict of Libido and aggression.Through the synthesis of different theories,the role of the ideal ego and defense mechanism in the formation of narcissistic disorder could be highlighted.The first part of this article is introducing the concept and characteristics of the narcissism,and discussing the relationship between the narcissism and the culture.The second part is a brief introduction and analysis of the content of the theory related the narcissism.The third part,after integrating the views of all sides,highlights the role of the ideal ego in the narcissism,such as repression,function and superego.The fourth part is a brief discussion of the theory and case of the narcissistic disorder.
