A Report On The Translation Of Chapter 2 And 9 Of Extremism, Counter-terrorism And Policing

This is a translation report on the basis of the author's translation experience of Chapter 2 and 9 in Extremism,Counter-terrorism and Policing.Nowadays countries all over the world,including China,are facing the pressure against terrorism and extremism,and counter-terrorism policing has become one of the development directions for China.Therefore,counter-terrorism policing translation would provide valuable supplement and guidance for counter-terrorism policing at home.The present translation report analyses the linguistic features of the source text and illustrates the translation difficulties the author encountered during the translation.Based on the theory of the horizon of expectations,the author applies such translation techniques as addition,omission,division and shift to fulfill readers' directed expectation and such translation methods as transliteration,literal translation with notes and transference to fulfill readers' creative expectation.
