Cultural Recombination And Expression Of Landscape Design

With the rapid development of urban construction,people have had a thirst for cultural life over high-quality material life.People are,thus,attaching more and more attention to the landscape environment.It is acknowledged in the new landscape environment theory that various cultures have constantly accumulated in the original sites through their history,and that all the historical and cultural heritage has its value of existence as well as its value of being re-introduced into new landscape environment.So,the cultural elements or clues in the original site environment can be recombined and reintrocduced into the new landscape environment,which is called"Cultural Recombination".Cultural recombination can,on one hand,make the landscape environment culture more meaningful by identifying,selecting and integrating all kinds of cultures into the new landscape environment,and on the other hand,with the landscape environment as an important carrier of cultural presentation,effectively continue and inherit the culture(s)concerned by producing a harmonious integration of its or their past,present and future,which is of great strategic significance to China,a country with a lot of cultural heritages.Cultural recombination is,namely,to inherit and develop the culture(s)by identifying and selecting the cultural factors left over in the original sites,and integrating something valuable into a harmonious and orderly combination of various cultures.In the landscape environment,we are required to understand the site,analyze the characteristics of cultural factors in the site and the mutual relationship among them,and finally integrate the cultural factors into the new landscape environment with the methods of cultural retention,cultural promotion,cultural implantation,cultural fusion,etc.in accordance with the modernity,inheritance,artistry and functionality of cultural development.We are also required to construct the site space and the site culture through cultural recombination from the basic elements of landscape design and in the aspects like space,form,conception and function.The paper discusses the landscape culture and the cultural recombination,focusing on the analysis of the interaction mechanism between cultural recombination and landscape design and illustrating the important role of cultural recombination in the landscape design.The paper falls into three parts:Part One illustrates the concepts and features of cultural recombination,and highlights the importance of the cultural recombination in the landscape design;Part Two deals with the ways and laws of cultural recombination in the landscape design by analyzing the existing literature data and many excellent cases from home and abroad under the guidance of the cultural recombination theory;Part Three displays the important role of cultural recombination in the practical landscape programming of the ancient around-Wuxi canal.Through the research in the application of cultural recombination in the landscape design and the practice of the ancient around-Wuxi canal landscape programming,modern landscape design combines with traditional culture,making the meaningful and valuable cultural heritages continue and develop in the moden landscape environment.In addition,there remains a problem needing further exploration.That is how to closely integrate historical cultural heritages with modern landscape elements and site functions in the new landscape environment when reflecting cultures by way of cultural recombination.
