With the emergence of the 'cultural turn' in western translation academia from the 1960s to the 1970s,cultural factors behind divergent social backgrounds have become an object of translation researches.Researchers not only explore the adequacy of text, but pay significant attention to the societal and historical elements behind their resources.Translation plays an irreplaceable role in intercultural communication, one of whose essential targets is information transmission. As an independent entity, personal aesthetic understanding influences the translation process deeply and is highly possible to lead to a reconstruction of the targeted text. However, due to earlier translators' limited scope of divergent cultural backgrounds, cultural orientations of the original texts have been significantly impaired.Tang poetry, which contains rich imagery with Chinese cultural characteristics,is magnificent treasure in Chinese classical literature.Over the past hundreds of years, with the continuous efforts of translators and scholars,Tang poetry has been widely spreading in western communities, among which the poet Wang Wei's works have garnered most attention and reaped the highest popularity.Wang Wei is called the "Buddha of Poetry".The thought of Chan's "emptiness" deeply influenced Wang Wei's writing style,"emptiness" was the most frequently used word in Wang Wei's poems, and it was also a common word in Chinese classical poetry. However, few literature focuses on the translations of the "emptiness" in classical poetry,so this paper reexamines Wang Wei's poetry as an example to study the translation of "emptiness" in his poems. In order to solve the problem of the translations of the "emptiness",this study bases on the concept of "imagery" on the "Hypertext language Aesthetic" in the translations aesthetics system, combining Chan aesthetics with translations aesthetics. In the light, this research reevaluates the translations of Wang Wei's poems, and contrasts the discrepancies between various translations.
