A Research On The C-E Translation Of Political News From The Perspective Of Adaptation Theory

News is the carrier of information,and the translation of news plays an important role in the dissemination of information and international exchanges.Political news refers to the current political related events.It includes not only national policy and diplomatic documents,but also relevant political activities.The translation of political news involves the country's political image and external communication of national policy,whose role is self-evident.Political news has its own unique characteristics;there are also great differences between Chinese and English.In the process of translation of political news,it is necessary to consider the linguistic features of the two languages and cultural differences as well as social and historical background.The previous researches on political news mainly focused on its stylistic features and translation strategies,which were not complete enough in theoretical guidance.Based on Verschueren's Adaptation Theory,this thesis explores the C-E translation of political news from the perspective of communicative contextual adaptation and structural adaptation.Verschueren believes that language adaptation is about the process of continuous choices-making.Adaptability is the characteristic of languages.Communicative context adaptation mainly explores from three perspectives of mental world,social world and physical world.The adaptation to mental world includes adaptation to the aesthetic tastes and emotion of English recipients.The adaptation to social world involves cultural adaptation and social setting and institution.The adaptation to physical world is mainly from the two dimensions of time and space.Structural adaptation develops from two levels: vocabulary and sentence.A study of a large number of political news from China Daily and Xinhua net shows that the translator should conform to the communicative context adaptation and structural adaptation in the process of translation of political news in order to achieve successful intercultural communication.
