A Study On Weng Xincun's Commentaries Of Fantastic Toles By Ji Xiaolan

Fantastic Tales by Ji Xiaolan occupies an important position in the history of classical Chinese novels.However,the study of the commentaries of Fantastic Tales by Ji Xiaolan have not been fully pay attention to.Thus,this study choose one important commentater——Weng Xincun as the object,try to supplyment this part.This study will be divided into three parts,so as to make a more comprehensive analysis on Weng's commentary.Based on the existing literature,the first chapter will introduce the personal background of Weng and the basic situation of Weng's anthology.In this part,research methods of Philology will be used.The second chapter will choose Weng's commentary of content as the research point.By comparing the difference between Weng and Ji,the similarities and differences in the concept of ghosts and gods,social problems,the way one behaves,neo-confucianism and novel concept will be investigate.Overall,Weng admires Ji's views,expressed his admiration for Ji Yun between the lines.But he also showed a clear personal thought and style in many ways.This shows that Weng admires Ji under the premise and admiration,rather than simply follow.The third chapter concentrates on the style and form of Weng's commentary,to analysis the artistic characteristics of Weng's commentary.In the commentary style,Weng shows a personal commentary style by a informal and leisure comment way.In the commentary form,Weng comments the novel with novels,which is different to traditional commentary ways.These stories complete and expand the novel and made it more rich.In the same time,through the comparison with Narratology methods,the difference of their narrative style be revealed,which enriched reading pleasure.
